  - Should I sentence him? - She choked, suddenly losing the desire to look the murderer in the eye. - I can't do that.

  - You don't have to do it today, Dagmaro - he put his hands on his chest, but he still stared at the girl, surprised by her attitude.

If Hopkins had murdered his parents, he would have taken his life without a blink of an eye. In any case, only a linen could stand between the alpha and his victim. Apart from her, nothing would have stopped him.

  - I would like to think about it - Dag got her hand out of a strong grip of her friend. - I will go for a walk.

Jasper nodded his head with understanding, but Hale turned her eyes desperate for the passing hybrid. She did not want to be alone with him.

  - Afraid, Amanda? Scared of what? After all, we formed a temporary alliance - the werewolf smiled mockingly. - Do you doubt my pure intentions?

She closed her eyes and breathed a few times deep to calm down.

  - I know you won't let me out of here," she said, observing his reaction carefully.

He did not answer what she considered to be a nod to her words.

  - I am not going to stay here, so I will fight for freedom - she assured him fervently, but he only laughed quietly.

  - When there is a truce, you have to offer something valuable in return - he started by taking a step towards it. - I proposed Christian Hopkins, but Deveth did not feel obliged to pay me back. That is why I decided to make up for this small mistake on his part.

Her heart was beating like crazy, but she did not intend to give up.

  - I'm not going to stay here, Withell," she said, "I already said that.

Jasper reduced the distance between them in two steps and grabbed the girl's chin between her fingers, making her look at him.

  - I'll give you a choice, Hale - he hissed, and his warm breath blew up her face. - Either you stay here, or Aunt Vanessa and her niece will not wake up.

Tears started to flow down the girl's cheeks, which she could not stop.

  - Why are you doing this? - she snitched, trying to get away from him.

  - Because you belong to me, Amanda - he whispered and let her go, walking away into the house. - Think carefully about my proposal. You have until the evening.

  Chapter XIII

For a few hours she was lying down and gave up staring at the ceiling.

She didn't want to end up that way, especially since her story was looking completely different, and she believed that it could be good if you strongly believe in it.

  - Not sleeping yet? - he entered her room without even bothering to knock. - Your time is up. I came to find out what the answer is.

She gave him an angry look, and tears of helplessness squeezed into her eyes. She did not know why it was her fate that decided to punish her so much, but she wanted him to stop playing at her expense.

  - You probably didn't think that I would condemn my friends to death - she was growling, suddenly rising to sit down. - But know that you will damn well regret it.

Withell took a few steps until he reached the shore of her marina, which she decided to treat as a safe haven from his deep look and voice forcing her to obey.

  - A good girl - he praised her, smiling under her nose. - You will immediately inform your dear friends that you are staying here of your own free will, and if I see that you are trying to play with me according to your own rules, I will not spare anyone...

She froze, looking at him in disbelief.

She did not think that he would require such a serious lie from her and did not believe that her voice would not shake when she would convince Dagmara and Aunt Vanessa that she chose this path voluntarily.

  - You are cruel! - She screamed, rolling up into a tight ball and bursting into tears.

  - Stop crying, please - his voice softened, but not because he felt sorry for his partner. - Dinner is coming up. Get yourself cleaned up and be convincing.

He touched her cheek wet from tears, but pushed his hand away.

  - Don't touch me, monster - she snores, getting up and going to the bathroom. - You will never break me. You can have my body, but you will never have a soul.

She passed him proudly straightened up and walked up to the bag, searching for something fresh to disguise. She felt dirty, and this feeling was intensified by the presence of the werewolf in the room.

  - I will wait downstairs - he squinted and his eyes flashed with gold when her T-shirt slightly lifted, showing the girl's naked back. - Don't let me down. You know very well what this threatens.

She did not speak out, quickly entering the cool room next door and turning on the hot water to wash away her horror, helplessness and frustration.

She knew very well that if she had even denied it and said at the table that it wasn't true and the alpha forced her to lie, Dagmar and Vanessa wouldn't have been able to reach the door. If it wasn't for Withell to tear them to pieces, his wolves would have made up for it.

She made a huge mistake in listening to her conscience and coming here with her friend, but it was too late.

She washed her face, trying to wash away the salt tears, but each time new ones appeared. She finally gave up and sat down in the corner on a thick rug, hiding her face in her hands and throwing away all the emotions she was hurting.

  - Amanda? - She heard right in front of her, lifting her head in disbelief and looking straight into Verber's warm eyes.

  - Gina... - whispered embarrassed by her behaviour. - I forgot that you belong to Jasper's pack.

The woman sat down by the brunette, rubbing her face with a dry towel. She wanted to hug her strongly and make sure everything would be all right, but she did not want to take part in this madness again. In the institute she had already done enough bullshit, and nothing good came of it anyway.

  - Tell me what happened - Hale left her head, but something inside her made her trust Gina and tell her about the alpha plan.

That's why she told her everything, ignoring the fact that at some moments the wolf was shaking her eyes out of disbelief. When she finished talking, she was stuck in the woman's eyes, hoping for a comment that would show her the way.

Och, Amando — zaczęła nieśmiało Verber — tak mi przykro. Wiedz, że od początku nie popierałam jego zamiarów wobec ciebie. Zachowałam się jednak nie w - order, concealing important facts from you and putting you in danger, so I would like to repay you. Trust me this last time.

The girl stood up, again approaching the sink and unscrewing the water that washed away the remains of despair from her face.

  - The last time - she agreed.

She quickly dressed up in the things she had brought earlier and went down to dinner, leaving her new ally upstairs.

She had no idea what the wolf came up with, either, but whatever it was, she preferred everything over self-righteous Withell and his unbearable brother.

She entered the dining room, where most of the gathered including Dagmara was already sitting. So she took a seat next to her friend and leaned to her ear, curious about her decision.

  - And what did you decide? - The cloakroom smiled under her nose, and in her eyes ghostly fires danced.

  - Exile is probably the right punishment for a murderer," she said. - Let him be glad that I didn't send him straight to the grave like he did my parents.

  - You've already told me about this alphabet? - Hale was wearing a face down because she hoped Dag would forgive Hopkins.

She didn't expect that this one would be so stubbornly seeking revenge.

  - Yes, I already told everyone. I also called Colin, but he didn't answer, so I left him a voice message.

Amanda did not manage to ask for details, because at that moment Jasper and his brother entered the dining room and the omega was served to the table.

They ate in silence, each one of them immersed in their own thoughts, but also nobody burned to talk. Vanessa looked through the window with grief, as if she wanted to throw cutlery over a porcelain plate and run out, looking f
or some peace in the dark forest, and Dagmara seemed to be somewhere else. The brunette suspected that she was punishing Hopkins through the eyes of her imagination, and she took great pleasure from it.

  - Although we met here for a different purpose, but I have valuable information for you - Withell took the opportunity that everyone ate and stood up, taking a slow step to approach Amanda.

The girl pale, but tried to keep up appearances because of the health and safety of her loved ones.

  - Amanda wants to tell you something - she ended up with a cynical smile, standing right behind her chair and putting his hand on her shoulder.

Remember that if you do anything wrong, not only your friend but also my sister will lose their heads.

She opened her eyes in amazement, not hearing his thoughts for a long time. So suddenly he entered her mind that she did not manage to stop her emotions, which did not escape the attention of the audience.

  - I would like to stay by Withell's side - she choked on what Dagmara held back the air, and Aunt Vanessa threatened her brother.

  - If I find out that you forced her to do so, even family ties will not stop me from putting a cross on your grave," she grew wild, also rising from the spot.

  - These threats do not impress me in the slightest - he sighed alpha with regret, forcing Hale to leave the dining room. - Now, if you'll excuse me, I'd like to have a word with my fiancée in private.

They left, although the brunette had difficulty moving on her stiff legs, so annoyed by Withell's snail, he took her in his arms and carried her out in front of the house.

  - I'm not a vase for you to carry me from corner to corner like a thing - she was hissing angry, but Jasper quickly silenced her.

  - I don't care how you do it, but you have to reassure everyone about our love - the girl moved her shoulders indifferently, which annoyed the man even more. - What did you not understand?

  - All right, I'll do it! - she screamed, and tears flowed into her eyes again. - Just stop bullying me, you lousy dog.

Withell did not intend to fold such behavior. He grabbed the brunette by her hair and strongly attracted her to himself, tilting her head back.

  - You will turn to me this way again, and you will cease to be a full-blown linen - he wiped it out through your teeth and pushed it away from you, so that it fell to the hard ground with a moan.

  - You're an idiot, if you think I ever wanted to, she lifted up on sore hands and peeked at an angry werewolf. - I don't care what you do with me. I'm only staying here to protect my family.

Black sneaked into Jasper's eyes, which showed that he was on the verge of endurance.

  - In that case, I'll do whatever I want with you, Hale - he kneeled down on her, and she moved aside a bit. - Tomorrow you will see what a mean dog I am.

He left her in the back of the house.

Gina waited for a moment to emerge from the dense bushes, in which she patiently sat for several minutes and watched the whole situation. She was in shock, but if she had any doubts before to help Amanda, now she got rid of them completely.

She helped the battered girl to get up from the ground and hugged her hard.

  - Don't worry, dear - she whispered calmly. - You will not be here until tomorrow.

She packed her things in a hurry, wondering if she should tell her friend her plans.

However, she resigned, guessing that then Withell might have wanted revenge, and Dagmara and Aunt Vanessa would have been the victims. She did not want to let this happen, especially since Trein was dangerously close to their rooms, as if the alpha had instructed him to watch them.

She breathed a few times deeply and looked out the window, asking all possible deities to take Gina unnoticed to her old apartment. She was going to go there only for a moment, pick up some clothes and leave as far away as possible.

She had a flight to London in the morning, and that was beyond the dangerous borders of Los Angeles. By the time anyone catches her trail, she will be far away.

Nie mogła się z nią pożegnać, ale She was going to ask her friend to talk to Christian Hopkins before she gave her last sentence.

  - What are you doing here? - The road was replaced by Trein and looked down on her from above. - Shouldn't you sleep at this time of night?

  - I think I have the right to leave the room," she said. - Besides, I am a luna and you should not stand in my way.

The boy lifted his eyebrows amusingly, but remained silent, looking at the girl in research and looking for even a shadow of horror in her.

  - Jasper told me to keep an eye on you," he muttered, throwing the hood over his head, "but I'd love to take a cigarette break.

He moved aside and she took the opportunity to squeeze into Dag's room. She entered without knocking, trying to be quiet enough not to draw unnecessary attention to Vanessa sleeping behind the wall.

  - Amanda? - The cloakroom lifted her head from the book she was studying with her sleepy eyes. - Why don't you sleep? Is something wrong?

  - No, nothing happened - it calmed her down quickly. - I just wanted to talk to her.

  - Do you really want to stay here with Withell? After all, this rat is terrible. Think about it - Hale has hardly stopped the tears that were pressing against her eyes. - Your aunt will stand up for you, don't be afraid. Just a word, you know that.

  - I am not afraid - she assured, forcing me to smile. - This herd needs a mother. I can't give up my position as a slacker and leave these people to Jasper's prey. Sometimes you have to fight for more than just yourself. When that changes, I will come back to you.

Dagmara put the book aside and hugged Amanda, stroking her back comfortably.

  - Colin will be broken - she whispered - maybe you should call him?

  - I'll do it tomorrow, when you set off on your way back - she promised and moved away from the cloakroom. - I wanted to ask you to reconsider with Hopkins. Before you make any decision, have a word with him. Maybe it would be worthwhile to know his version of events and give him a chance to defend himself?

  - He killed my parents... - Dag murmured - but be it.

  - So just make sure he is really guilty and then do as your heart tells you - she kissed her friend on the cheek. - Good night, Dagmaro.

  - Good night - a girl said goodbye to her, laying back on her bed and continuing a stormy romance with the history of wolf families.

Amanda returned to her room on her fingers, looking around nervously, but the werewolf was nowhere to be seen. She opened the door and almost screamed, noticing the Verber spread out comfortably in the armchair.

  - You want me to have a heart attack? - I burst, approaching a satisfied woman. - Do you have any good news?

  - Withell got an urgent call to the Institute - she smiled broadly - supposedly the whole archive is on fire and the employees who have been sitting a little too long over the long scripts do not know how to deal with it...

  - What?! How does it burn? - The brunette looked on in disbelief at Gina suffocating from laughter, only after a while adding two to two. - You lied to him!

  - Quietly, the wolf covered her mouth with her hand. - Dr. Cullen and his colleague Smith are great actors. He should leave in a few minutes, but you will have to get rid of his annoying brother.

This was not a simple task, unless by some miracle he could be convinced that the maiden has completely reconciled herself to her fate and is not going anywhere.

  - I'll take care of it - Hale checked if the backpack is where she had hidden it before. - Others know that you were supposed to come home in town today?

  - Yes - the woman smoothed out the hair that had been broken from the emotions with her hand. - Nobody will suspect anything, but you have to sneak into the car. I will leave the back door ajar and when you get inside, I will close it myself. Wolves need on
ly remember me hanging around the car. You will have only a few seconds to do all this. Can you do it?

  - I don't have a choice - Amanda took a few deep breaths and with a swish she let air out of her lungs to calm down a bit. - See you in an hour.

Gina wymknęła się przez okno po ozdobnych kratach, po których piął się bluszcz. Hale przez przypadek dostała pokój, z którego najłatwiej było dać nogę, jeśli A whole herd of werewolves did not watch under the forest. However, she did not think that Withell would resort to such means. He knew perfectly well that Amanda would do anything to protect her beloved ones.

She sneaked under the door and waited until she finally heard the desired steps. The Trein stopped right on the other side and listened to her sleep.

  - Trein? - She threw into the darkness in front of her, and the surprised boy came inside. - I would like to ask you something.

  - Apparently you hate me - he chipped his teeth in a snow-white smile, but ignored the desire to knock them all out.

  - This is true, but since my fate has been decided, we must learn to communicate - she sighed, squinting her eyes. - What did you mean when you said I was magical? You dragged me into the forest and left me there. Do you remember?

A werewolf turned his eyes over, measuring his hair.

  - A bite does not turn into a wolf, but a bite produces a certain bond to nature after time," he explained reluctantly. - It is different for everyone. I wanted to check what will happen to you if you have been bitten by an alpha.

  - And what is it like? - she couldn't believe Withell really was such a jerk.

  - If nothing happened to you, it must be strong - he giggles, but when he notices her face, he quickly takes the mask of indifference on his face. - Can I help you with something else?

She pretended to think deeply about his question.

  - Will life with Jasper be as difficult as it was before? I would like to give him a chance, but I'm not sure if he deserves it.

If Trein was surprised by her words, he did not let her know.

  - It can be difficult, but it is only a cover-up," he assured, deadly serious. - Let him prove himself, and when he sees that you trust him, he will do anything for you. This is how the bond of destiny works.
