Werewolf Destiny Page 7

The king breathed deeply and walked through the chamber, leaning over the desk from where he dug out a briefcase with some papers. He searched for something, until he finally found it and put it on the counter in front of him. The girl noticed that his heart's finger was adorned with a golden ring, which was probably related to being a vampire ruler.

  - Come up, Dagmaro - he pointed his hand at the documents and let the girl look at them freely.

Amanda was also curious what they could contain, but she did not want to squeeze between a vampire and her friend. In any case, she had no right to take away the satisfaction of discovering the truth from the cloakroom.

  - I don't believe it," Dag finally said, grasping his head and moaning despair. - She would not fool me in such an important matter! She always said that she had no idea what happened then, and that... This denies everything she ever said.

Król delikatnie odebrał dokumenty Dagmarze i dla odmiany podał je brunetce, by i ona mogła orzec, co o tym wszystkim sądzi. Amanda wolała nie zabierać głosu w A case she had no idea about, but a friend looked at her with a pleading written on her face, so she didn't dare refuse.

With her hands trembling with emotion, she took the papers from Colin and tried to focus on the text, but she did not understand much of it.

  - What is it? - She asked straightforwardly, not wanting to waste time on misconceptions.

  - The incident report and testimony of witnesses, including Vanessa Keyligh with her handwritten signature - Amanda opened her eyes in amazement and once again reviewed the stack she was holding in her hands.

The king did not lie. The protocol had a dozen or so pages, and underneath it there was a whole lot of signatures, including the royal seal and another one that she did not recognize, but seemed more official. Mrs. Keyligh's testimony was short and stained, but there was no question of a mistake.

  - Why did everyone testify that they saw a herd of wolves that entered a private property and then entered the house and... - She did not finish, seeing the tears in Dagmar's eyes.

It was only after a while that it reached her, what it actually means.

  - Was it a herd of Withell? - She suffocated, barely opening her mouth.

She would rather hear that she didn't, because she couldn't live with the knowledge that this monster was really a monster. Whether she was his destiny or not, she could never forgive him.

Colin did not answer immediately, as if he was wondering how much he could tell them so that they would not run away at the first better opportunity, which he did not intend to allow.

  - We did not manage to establish this definitively," he confessed in the end. - However, he certainly did not participate in it himself, because then he traveled in matters related to the conclusion of an inter-species alliance.

Amanda breathed a sigh of relief, although she knew she shouldn't care. However, she could not think of herself as someone who had unknowingly been punished with a murderous half. Then she would be sure that there was no point in living or living just to prove to a werewolf that he would never get it.

  - Why would wolves attack the Dagmara family? - The brunette did not want to tear up old wounds, but her friend got stuck anyway.

  - I don't know - Colin looked her straight in the eye - maybe because at that time the relationship between werewolves and vampires was punished by death.

The cloakroom exclamated her eyes and tried to say something, but despite a few attempts, only a numb babble came out.

  - Dagmara is neither one nor the other - she was growling, hugging her friend tightly and giving her a pack of handkerchiefs so she could get herself cleaned. - She would know about it.

Anyway, they lived together for quite a long time and even if Dag tried to trick her, she would have realized. It was difficult to hide anything from the women, and it was extremely difficult to hide anything from her at all. She could figure out a man by looking him straight in the eye, so the roommate was no big problem.

Not to mention that you could read from it like from an open book.

  - It is a hybrid, therefore it has not yet shown the characteristics of either one or the other species - the king suddenly straightened up and came to the door, opening it violently.

In the hallway stood a slim and tall woman, whose white blonde hair was pinned up in a high chignon and decorated with pearls. The black dress emphasized a bright complexion, and sharp green eyes looked deep into the room with curiosity.

  - Hello, mother - the king burked, moving aside a bit so that she could go inside, which she was happy to do.

To the vampire's annoyance, she immediately approached Amanda, looking at her carefully. The girl shaken as if from the cold, but did not move a millimeter and did not say a single word.

  - It is good that you managed to bring your fiancée home - the vampire gave the terrified brunette a wide smile. - Of course you were right, son. She is beautiful.

She took another look at Dagmara, but when she saw her condition, she left her alone. She sensed that the two young women were emotionally connected with each other, so she decided that they should have chambers next to each other.

Having assessed the situation, she left, pulling on her black robes and went to the kitchen to remind workers that today they also served human food. She could not allow guests to walk hungry and neglected. A lot could be said about Veronica Deveth, but certainly not that she was cruel.

  - Coming back to the topic - Colin closed the door behind his mother and again focused on the girls - the hybrid is quite a complicated object. It is not known exactly when he will wake up, and besides, he is more of a man with supernatural powers than a werewolf or vampire. I think it is because the two genes are mutually exclusive, hence the child only takes on the specific characteristics of its parents, but remains a human being, although unquestionably exceptional.

Dagmara has already calmed down enough to say something, although her heart was still beating like crazy.

  - I don't have special abilities," she admitted with shame, giving the rest of the handkerchiefs to Amanda. - I never noticed that. Maybe it was just a fatal mistake?

The king twisted his head with sadness.

  - You have, but you don't know it yet, because you haven't woken up," he explained, combing through the light hair with his hand.

  - But... - the brunette wanted to interfere, but Colin interrupted her with a firm tone.

  - You're tired," he said, with difficulty holding back from using your power on them. - You will soon be served a meal, and then the servants will take you to your new rooms. When you regain your strength, we will talk about what awaits you here.

Brunette did not like his words. She suspected that the vampire was not by chance near the Withell's pack house. He must have known something, but he saw no need to share it with them for the moment.

  - Can we take the protocol with us? We would like to look at it once again in peace - she risked, hoping for the ruler's favour in this matter.

  - Of course, Amando," he said quietly, "I will bring you a copy of it to your room after dinner.

In his mind he had to summon one of the servants of the vampire family, because she was already waiting excited at the office door to take the guests to their chambers and prepare for dinner.

Amanda had already forgotten how awful it must have been to look, all smeared with mud and blood, in ragged and dirty clothes. Anyway, there was no need for her to look in the mirror, it was enough for her to hang her eyes on the crying Dagmar. She was certainly in much worse condition.

  - Thank you - she whispered only to say goodbye, going out with her friend in the hallway.

  Chapter X

The chambers were beautiful and full of splendor, which Amanda did not doubt even for a moment, seeing as she travelled to them how other corners of the vampire palace looked like.

Every now and then, she encountered curious glances and ironic smiles of residents and employees, and frankly speaking, she did not surpr
ise them at all. Surely for all these people she looked like seven misfortunes or a sack of blood, which the king decided to bring home, because that was his whim. No one knew the backstage of this performance.

  - How do you feel? - asked Dagmary, who has just been exploring the huge and luxurious bathroom with delight, dreaming of being able to try out the bath already.

  - It all sounds like a story sucked out of a finger - she blinked, now, for a change, she's browsing through a pile of multicolored flacons. - I can't believe that my aunt lied to me almost all her life.

  - Have you read her testimony carefully? - The brunette did not want to be nosy, but Dag often acted under the influence of emotions and the girl suspected that she did not exactly focus on the content of the documents.

This could mean that Aunt Vanessa wasn't hiding anything, and she only told the police as much as she learned from others. Anyway, she could have been interrogated as a person related to the dead, she did not have to be present at the scene of the crime.

  - I know what you're thinking about - a friend fucks a friend, checking if there was hot water in the tap. - No, I did not carefully read every line, because the first one was enough for me. I was too young to remember that, but it turns out that my aunt lived with us. In the place where the testifying person lived, the address of my family home was entered.

It was hard to resist such an argument, so Amanda fell silent while looking through the bathroom window at the garden bathed in the sun.

  - Could they, ladies, go back to their room for a moment? - Both of them jumped to the sound of the vampire's voice, which brought them to the room.

They completely forgot that she accompanied them all the time, patiently waiting for them outside the door and listening to their conversation. Even if she did not want to listen, it would be difficult, given her acute sense of hearing.

  - Sorry, we forgot that you are still here... - Amanda started to translate quickly, and the maid, surprised, hung up on her.

Suddenly she felt a great affection for this dirty girl, because nobody ever called her a lady, not to mention apologizing. She didn't really know how she should have behaved in such a situation, so she only rushed politely and pointed to the other door, so far unnoticed by her friends.

  - This is a closet," she explained. - Each of the girls has her own. The lady asked you to dress whatever you liked. I will wait for you to take a bath, and then I will come back to help them dress and comb.

She escaped from the room before they could ensure that they could manage on their own and did not have to wait for them.

  - I feel stupid when somebody treats me like this - Dagmara has curled up, but decided to take a vampire's advice and take a short bath.

Amanda also went to her chamber, which was attached to her friend's chamber, so fortunately she did not have to go out to the corridor, where a humble maid was probably waiting.

She entered an identical bathroom and unscrewed the hot water tap, waiting for the bath to fill up a bit. She was reluctant to look in the mirror and, seeing her face, she moaned deafly. She looked terrifying.

She rushed off her clothes, which were no longer suitable for anything, and entered the tub, looking for something in sight that could wash away the clotted blood and earth. In the basket lying next to her on a wooden cupboard, she found everything she needed and willingly took advantage of it. She was relieved to start scrubbing her shoulders and collarbone, where an ugly wound could be seen after a Vithella bite opened.

Kiedy umyła włosy i twarz, uznała, że The last time she rubbed herself with mud, although she has heard many times that mud baths have a beneficial effect on the skin. She was dried up with a nightmare, which she would rather not face again.

She wrapped her clean body in a towel and went out onto the bathroom walker, which before she came here was certainly white. She decided to take care of it after supper. She did not want to give anyone any work.

She combed her tangled hair and went out of the bathroom, heading straight to the dressing room. She hoped to find any underwear there before the vampire came and recorded her wounded body. She quickly found what she was looking for in the drawer at the door and finished putting it in just the moment the maid entered.

  - The girl looks beautiful - she was delighted with what the brunette was embarrassed about, but vampires were not discouraged in any way. - What color does she like, miss, the most?

  - Blue," said the girl, without even thinking about it.

Now she liked everyone to have their clothes on.

  - Is this the one? - The maid pulled out a beautiful cotton dress with lace decorations, which Amanda would not have dressed in a normal situation in her life, but it was not a normal situation, so she vigorously grabbed the fabric and after a while she stood fully covered from the woman's curious eyesight.

  - Wonderful! - She was a bit too enthused, but she wanted to leave her closet and avoid further awkward situations.

  - Let her choose the shoes herself - when the vampire revealed in front of her the whole closet filled to the brim with shoes, Amanda sighed with delight and chose the first one from the shore, which had a beige color and very low heel.

They matched the dress and were comfortable, so neither the king nor his mother should be disappointed with her lack of taste.

  - Please go to the bathroom now so that we can dry and comb your hair - the brunette let go of her eyes, trying to quickly come up with anything to make sure they don't go there, but for anger's sake, all the reasons seemed too trivial to be taken seriously.

She did not want to be regarded as a savage who rudely soiled the perfectly white sidewalk.

Anyway, she was very keen to wash it later, and she had a feeling that the maid, as soon as she noticed the dirty stains, would immediately take care of their cleaning.

  - Is this necessary? Maybe I'll just bring the dryer here? - The vampire nodded her head slightly, although she did not manage to completely mask her surprise.

Amanda took the chance and quickly ran to the bathroom, after a minute returning from there with the equipment. She sat by the dressing table hidden inside the spacious dressing room and let the maid do whatever she wanted. From there, after several minutes, she had an elaborate updo on her head, instead of a hair storm, a pair of pearl earrings in her ears and a similar necklace in her neck.

  - Thank you - she smiled friendly to the girl - what is your name?

  - Klara - answered in a whisper, as if she was afraid that someone else's ears would catch it - and now I am very sorry, but I still have to take care of the other girl.

She left in a hurry, leaving the girl alone with a mass of doubts, which suddenly came with double the force. Jasper was right, because although she hated him, she constantly had the impression that she left something important behind. She was also tormented by the feeling of guilt, because she could change one life for the better, but did not want to. Withell was despicable and selfish, but still she couldn't completely forget about him and that drove her crazy.

Besides, the bite was still coming to light. Even through the fabric of the dress you could see how bad it looked. She was convinced that it was the fault of the alpha, who probably wanted to take revenge on her and show who has the advantage in this situation. All the time she was wondering whether if he had shown her at least a little bit of tenderness at the very beginning, she would stay with him?

  - You look beautiful when you think about something so intensely - the sound of the vampire ruler's voice jumped up on a soft pouffe, making a stifled cry out of yourself.

  - How did you get in here? I didn't hear anything - she hurriedly started smoothing out the fabric of the dress to hide her embarrassment.

  - I did not know that I needed permission to walk in my own palace - these words
embarrassed her even more, and an intense blush poured over her cheeks.

  - That's not what I meant - she farted, praying that someone else would come into the chamber and deprive her of Colin's company.

Only now have his mother's words come to mind.

  - I was named your fiancée today - she took an intriguing look at him. - Could you explain this to me?

A shadow of a smile slipped through his face, but the brunette pretended not to notice it at all.

  - We'll talk about it tomorrow when you rest and calm down the chaotic thoughts - he promised. - And now it is time for dinner. Your friend will be brought by Klara...

He let her know, so she immediately understood why the vampire felt so uncomfortable when she asked about it.

  - Of course - she nodded when she got up and followed the king full of fear, but also hope, associated with solving the mystery of years ago.

She felt uncomfortable sitting so close to the king, but under no circumstances did she want to offend him, so she pretended that everything was in order.

Besides, she cared about the documents she could only get thanks to the favor of a vampire. She owed Dagmar for entangling her friend in this sick situation and letting the werewolves abduct her.

  - Add wine, miss, wine? - A servant with a slightly dusty bottle approached the table and she could not refuse when three pairs of eyes were looking at her waiting.

  - Yes, please - she nodded, pushing the glass closer.

Colin hasn't heard from them since they sat down to dinner, skipping a short hello to his mother, who came theatrically late, humbly apologizing for that and explaining that she had a lot on her mind.

  - Son," Veronica finally said, "did you talk to our guest about... - She did not manage to finish, because Deveth sent her a warning look from his glass.

Amanda felt awkward because she had the irresistible impression that it was a vampire talking about her.

  - Withell certainly won't let up - she changed the subject cleverly - we should double the guards and be alert. After all, what is at stake is his destiny and whatever he is, he knows perfectly well that he will not have another.
