Werewolf Destiny Page 6

Dagmara joined her just a few seconds later, but for the sake of not being tagged, she closed the door so that somebody passing by would not notice that it was not closed.

  - Just a little bit more - she whispered to the Hall, sneaking along the wall to the main hall in the house.

Being at the very exit, they experienced a real heart attack. When Amanda was about to press the handle, sure that the road was clear, they took loud steps, giving them a clear signal that someone was approaching them.

The panicked did not know what to do with themselves. At the last moment Dagmara decided to intervene and grabbed her friend's arm firmly, pushing her into a recess in the next wall and forging behind a huge pot in which a pretty big yukka was growing.

The smell was still in the air, although there was a possibility that it mixed with the smell of other wolves and would not be caught by an incoming intruder. They both froze out of horror, praying in spirit that this would happen. After an infinite amount of time, no one else appeared in the hall, like Jasper Withell himself. He was impeccably dressed; he wore an expensive suit and elegant shoes, but was betrayed by the hateful look that he had stuck somewhere in front of him.

Amanda tried not to move or breathe, but she was sure that her loud beating heart had already betrayed her. She herself heard it with such power, as if someone next to her was hitting the gong. She did not want to give up, but she felt more and more pressure on herself. She was just getting ready to come out of hiding when the front door suddenly opened and a young boy stood there, bowing low.

  - Alfo! The guards are asking for advice on how to deal with the luna and the vampire ruler if he would come for it uninvited - a wolf with a dark hair has been sacked, and Withell went out after him, leaving the stupefied girls in complete shock.

  - Let's get out of here as soon as possible," said the terrified Dag. - I don't want to have to deal with this dog anymore.

A friend understood her perfectly. She spent enough time with Jasper to know how cruel he could be. Contrary to appearances, he was not only a threat to his enemies, but to all those he considered unworthy of taking away his precious time.

  - They disappeared somewhere on the other side in the forest - she whispered, looking through a small window in the door. - They probably went to the training ground. We must be very quiet, so move naturally until the house disappears from your eyes. Do you understand?

  - Yes - Dagmara gently pressed on the handle and, according to her friend's instructions, slowly moved towards dense bushes.

Amanda looked nervously to the sides and rushed to follow her, trying to be quiet and not to give anyone any reason to suspect.

In this case, even if someone curious would now look out the windows and be noticed by them, there was a chance that they would not immediately arouse their interest. What fugitives would go to the forest so carelessly? Probably none.

The girl was relieved to be submerged in a sea of greenery, in which it was not so easy to see them anymore. They were still walking quite slowly, although the pace was getting faster because of the danger behind their backs. They did not want to make any noise, however, because they wanted to stay hidden. It was only when they reached the stream that the tall chasms disappeared, and the terrain became smooth and conducive to quiet running, that they enjoyed this blessing of nature.

However, they had a big problem because they did not know the terrain and were an easy target for the soldiers who made maps of these lands themselves. They also did not know where the dog's border ended and how to recognize the presence of a possible threat that could patrol the area.

They were silent, helplessly staring at the forest wall. They knew that any unauthorized sound could have affected the herd's auditory radar. Using the stream flowing by, they washed away the sweat mixed with fear from their faces and rubbed themselves with mud to mask their scent.

In a hurry they moved on and after an hour, according to a destroyed but still working brunette watch, they reached the road.

  - There are wolves in the forest, but here we can find someone normal - she threw Dagmar's idea. - We will say that we went on a trip, but we lost our way and would like to get to the nearest town.

  - Not stupid - Amanda liked the direction of the cloakroom's thinking, even though she had a lot of doubts, which she wasn't trying to drown out.

Nothing better came to her mind, however, so she agreed with the hope that there would be no alpha in the first car passing by.

  - I have a feeling that they already know - she said after a few minutes of wandering, which Dagmara was cursed at, but did not dare to deny.

In the end, the brunette was bitten by this mongrel, and this resulted in an emotional connection to the detriment of both sides.

As if in response to these assumptions, a mighty roar was made from afar, unfortunately not a wolf, but an engine.

  - Here they come! - Dag completely panicked, losing her head and her talent for rational thinking in difficult situations.

They had nowhere to run away from, the only thing Amanda hurriedly came up with was an attempt to climb the tree, which resulted in a rather unpleasant fall for the girl. They both completely went mad when they saw an off-road car approaching between the trees.

  - Run! - The cloakroom screamed desperately to her friend and threw herself into a frantic run, praying for a miracle in her thoughts.

There was no way they could have escaped. A car with a squeak of tires crossed their path and the door opened suddenly, but this was not the view the girls were expecting.

  - Quickly, get in - they were encouraged by a stranger who knocked them down with an unprecedented beauty.

They looked at each other uncertainly, analyzing all the pros and cons quickly, but were finally convinced by another roar, this time certainly belonging to Jasper. Both jumped into the rear seats of the off-road vehicle, although the Halls, for unknown reasons, had difficulty, and Dagmara locked the door behind them with a crackle.

The driver moved abruptly and the speedometer pointer rose higher and higher, exceeding the permitted speed by an abstract value.

  - Who are you? - asked a semi-conscious brunette and her shirt on her shoulder began to soak in blood.

  - What is happening?! - A terrified friend shaken Amanda, but this treatment did not help to restore her consciousness.

  - Withell forces her to be submissive," explained the driver briefly, "but we will soon be out of his reach.

  - What? After all, it's cruel! - A nervous girl unbuttoned Hale's shirt and exposed her arm, where the bite mark was visible.

Był brzydki i na pewno nie był już śladem. W jego miejscu wytworzyła się świeża rana, z której obficie lała się krew. Amanda straciła kontakt z realnym światem, probably fainting in pain and by the way fighting fiercely inside her head with the destined one who desperately tried to get into her thoughts.

  - Hold on, Amanda," said the handsome brunette and, as far as Dagmar's eye can see, he did it disturbingly tenderly. - We will be home soon.

  Chapter IX

The life was spreading from all sides, Amanda was still unconscious, Dagmara panicked, ripped her hair out of her head, and the mysterious savior led, giving her a heart attack at every turn.

  - Are we safe now? - She asked every now and then, although she knew the answer to this question perfectly well.

  - Not exactly - the boy sighed every time, but did not look worried.

He knew that now everything would go as it should from the very beginning.

  - Where do you actually take us and who are you? - He didn't want to reveal everything about himself at such a moment.

  - I'll tell you when we get there - he promised, finally leaving the forest.

The whistling stopped immediately, as if some kind of magical barrier appeared on the road.

  - They don't run after us? - Surprised Dagmara peeked back, but saw only a mighty grey bassoon that stood on the tree line. He did not look happy, which did not surpris
e her at all.

  - The border - whispered the deliverer - cannot be crossed. This land is inviolable.

  - Why? - He sighed, hesitating whether he should confess her truth.

  - It is a vampire land - he smiled poorly and she moved restlessly.

  - Vampires? I hate vampires! They're terrible! - The dressing gown has crooked with disgust. - Although it's still better than those fucking werewolves.

Amanda slowly began to open her eyes, although she did so with great difficulty.

  - Where... - She did not manage to finish because her friend crushed her in a strong embrace.

  - Mother, I was so afraid that this whole alpha thing did something to you! Don't ever scare me like that again! - She ordered while the girl was trying to get air into her lungs.

  - You're choking me! - She muttered and was immediately released from her warm embrace. - He yelled at me," she admitted after a moment of silence, "and ordered to come back.

She squished herself as if she had experienced the worst thing in her life.

  - You have nothing to be afraid of - assured the driver, smiling at her gently in the mirror. - It will be fine. You don't have to listen to him anymore.

  - I don't have to? - she was surprised. - What do you mean? I mean, I didn't mean to, but still, he could have influenced me - it was terrible, too, so she crooked twice.

  - His power here does not reach," he assured. - There is no way he could harass you in the palace.

Amanda opened her eyes wider in amazement and Dagmara moaned.

  - In the palace? In the vampire palace? - She didn't like it at all.

  - Vampires are not bad and devoid of heart, as others say - he sent them a funny smile. - Anyway, you will see for yourself.

The girls looked at each other uncertainly. They were not at all convinced that they wanted to learn more about this species.

  - We will be there soon - he tried to calm them down, but they both looked frightened by the vehicle windows.

Deep down in her heart, Amanda felt that the mysterious deliverer would not hurt them, but she could always make a mistake. Dagmara only dreamed of something to eat and a comfortable bed where she could give up her dreams. Jasper did not treat her badly, but she could not go outside. The prison may have been luxurious, but it did not compensate for the deprivation of her freedom in any way.

  - You are a vampire - she finally solved the mystery.

He laughed that it took her so long. He thought he had given them a solution on a tray, but sometimes he forgot that people push out of their minds at all costs what they cannot understand.

  - Yes, I am a vampire," he confirmed.

Amanda curved up, fading slightly. She did not want to be captured again.

  - Are you taking us to your lord? - She burst, looking indifferently at the landscape outside the window.

He hesitated as if he was wondering what he should answer this question. This silence was very eloquent for the brunette, she did not have the best opinion about vampires. Actually nobody had it, who did not know their good side, and there were really few of them.

They were a bit more scared than the werewolves, and maybe even people were a bit more afraid of them? Werewolves brutal in their nature had one advantage - they did not drain bodies from blood, which could not be said of vampires.

  - He would like to meet you and talk about some things - in the mirror she saw his onyx irises, which stared at her with attention.

  - He could have at least asked if we would have liked it, too," Dagmara threw in, but Amanda gently slapped her friend in the thigh.

  - Come on, Dag, we didn't have much of a choice - she sighed - I remind you that we were being chased by a whole herd of wolves, if you've forgotten.

The robe moved its shoulders, resting its head back on the glass.

  - Everybody's worth each other - she snorted, closing her eyelids.

Now she wanted to sleep. Amanda returned to her healthy senses, so she could take care of their asses. This is the least she should do after she got them both into trouble. She always did. Dagmara advised her not to take risks, and she did her job anyway, convinced that it would end well this time. Somehow it never ended.

They drove in silence for a few more hours, each one in their own thoughts.

  - Big is your territory - the boy smiled under his nose, again peeking in the mirror at the girl who turned his head.

Now she will finally stand where she should from the very beginning - at his side, proudly representing herself as queen.

  - Indeed, he whispered, turning left abruptly and climbing up a well-kept alley. - The palace is on a hill.

  - Why does it always have to be a palace - Dagmar's sarcasm - you couldn't live in luxury apartments?

  Amanda turned her eyes over.

Dag, błagam — mruknęła — i tak nie zostaniemy tam długo. Porozmawiamy z królem i wracamy do domu — nie był to najlepszy pomysł, bo Withell doskonale - He knew where they lived and could appear there uninvited at any time if his subordinates were not lurking at the door.

  - We won't go back there for sure - the cloak-and-dagger has knocked on the head - this idiot is probably waiting for you at the door! Are you crazy? We'll get to my aunt's - she decided, but the brunette wasn't delighted with this turn of events.

  - We'll see - she quietly ended the discussion when a lofty building appeared to their eyes. - Wow.

She wasn't able to cough out more of herself. It was a lot anyway. But to say about the palace that it is only pretty was definitely not enough.

A huge edifice was built on top of a hill, surrounded by forest, lake and boundless fields. It was surrounded by buildings for servants and some huts, whose roofs protruded from the trees. Deer and roe deer grazed at the edge of the meadow, chewing the grass with dignity. Some people (or vampires) walked around the garden, laughing carelessly, telling each other something with enthusiasm and enjoying common moments. The children were playing on the edge of the pond, throwing pebbles at it and watching it disturb its smooth surface after contact with water.

Everyone seemed to be happy there. Women dressed in aprons were putting something on the stone terrace, by whose stairs they stopped.

  - We are on the spot - the vampire informed them and everyone got out of the car.

  - Take us to the king - Amanda stood up proudly, looking him hard in the eyes.

  - Of course, Amando," he said, and Dagmara immediately caught this characteristic note of tenderness in his voice.

It was very subtle, but for such an experienced observer it was no difficulty. The cloakroom knew that the vampire did not find them by accident, because he had just gone for mushroom picking. Behind this facade of complete coincidence, there was something much bigger hidden.

They set off to the palace on the stone stairs, and women in aprons welcomed them with bows and smiled maliciously under their noses. None of the girls paid special attention to this, more annoyed by the meeting with the vampire ruler.

They walked through long spacious corridors without having time to pay special attention to them. The vampire led them as if he knew the way perfectly well - Amanda thought he had to work in the palace for the king, who knows, maybe he was his spy?

  - Behind this door you will meet our ruler - they stopped in front of the beautifully carved gates and exchanged their worried glances - ready?

At the same time they were nodding their heads and he let them through. For a while they got used to the darkness in the middle, because the windows were covered with thick curtains, but finally they noticed that they were alone inside. Not counting the vampire guide who brought them there.

  - So? - Dagmar's impatient snouted. - Where is the king?

Amanda turned towards the boy. Now she knew.

  - He is standing in front of you, lady," he turned to her and made her distinguish herself, "Colin Charles Deveth.

Unless the brunette looked especially surprised, the dressing gown was frozen with terror painted on
her face.

  - Deveth? - she repeated with disbelief. - So you murdered my parents.

After this confession, a perfect silence fell.

Dagmara was looking at the king with undisguised disgust in her eyes.

She wasn't afraid of him, but she felt like she was in boundless despair that, years later, she discovered who was associated with the mysterious name, who had signed a letter addressed to the orphanage, where she had been taken over by her aunt.

  - I can't believe it - she whispered, taking a step back. - I knew it was vampires who took their lives, but not the royal family...

Amanda looked at Colin, at her friend, and saw no consistency in the story.

  - Dag, I don't think it's the king... - She didn't manage to finish it, because something in Deveth's eyes did not allow her to do it.

The shiver of horror ran down her back when she realized what it meant.

  - Did you do it? - She just nodded, wanting to leave this place as soon as possible.

This was too much for both of them, because they have gone through enough to be taken care of by another psychopath now that they have finally managed to get out of Withell's trap.

  - I didn't kill them - he stuck a cold look straight into Dagmara. - They gave their lives in defence of their daughter.

The cloakroom turned her head in disbelief. In truth, she had no idea who she should believe. Aunt Vanessa always said that her parents were killed, and the letter she found with them was signed by the name Deveth.

She never mentioned that they sacrificed themselves for her, but she might not have known about it. She finally picked her up from the orphanage when it was over. First she had to prove in court that she had the conditions to take care of her little niece.

  - How do you know that? - Amanda didn't give up.

If this story remained covered in black veil for such a long time, there was now the only chance to take it off and find out what really happened then.
